Sara Mullen is an award-winning artist and designer who has gained an enviable reputation for herself and as a result has licensed her artwork broadly.
Sara Mullen grew up in Southeast Minnesota along the Mississippi River, nestled in a valley surrounded by bluffs and with the river running nearby. She has had a passion for art since childhood and began winning art contests in her early teens. In junior high school she participated n a juried art show with 500 submissions, and won. Since then she has participated in a number of fine art, graphics and photography shows and has often been selected and singled out for awards.
Sara continued her passion for art by studying at Winona State University for Fine Art, where she graduated with high honors, and at Western Wisconsin Technical College for Graphic Design, where she graduated with highest honors. In 2005, she was featured in the "Coulee Region Women" magazine, about women in business.
The artist successfully uses watercolors and ink with a touch of colored pencil at times to paint her designs. Her skills impose the illusion of depth and texture which add variety and uniqueness to her style. Her everyday environment and travel abounds with visual imagery which inspires her illustrations and gives insight and emotion to her florals, southwest art, fruit, spring, summer, fall and winter themes. She never knows what direction her imagination will take, and what she might create next.
Yet she is never at a loss for ideas to keep her diverse portfolio growing. Her dedication to her paintings is apparent with every brushstroke, giving her work tremendous versatility for many product applications. Sara's paintings are friendly and familiar to everyone. They will lighten your day and evoke pleasant memories.
Sara has enjoyed painting for many years and the creative process has brought happiness into her life. She admits that "the hours pass quickly when painting the next new design." She had only dared to dream that she could successfully translate this passion into an exciting career. Her days are happiest with a paintbrush in her hand.
Sara and her husband live in Southeast Wisconsin with their son and three cats.
